On 24 February several hundred lucky guests got a sneak preview of the Alloway 432 exhibition showcasing the paintings, prints and drawings of Canadian Scottish artist Ann Marie Gilmore at a private viewing and drinks reception to mark the launch.

Laid out over four separate galleries at Summerhall, Edinburgh, the exhibition gives an overview of the artist's work from the 1960s to the early 2000s up to her death in 2006 from a brain tumour.  

Speaking at the launch,  Prof. Bill Gilmore, the artist's brother, explained this was the reason that proceeds of a closed auction of the painting 'At A Window' (c.1990) would support the work of the Edinburgh Neuro-Oncology Unit which has been doing pioneering research into brain cancer.    

Renowned Scottish artist and promoter of the visual and performing arts Richard Demarco, CBE also gave a heartfelt tribute to the life and art of Ann Marie Gilmore whom he had known personally as a young student at Edinburgh College of Art in the 1960s and 70s. You can watch this here:
